Day two of testimony focused on how investigators tied phones, flights, rental cars, and social media to the hours around the August 19, 2022 shooting of Saviay’a Robinson near the Beverly Center. The jury heard from LAPD Detective Carias, then later from digital and federal witnesses who walked through iCloud extracts, Amex records, and location data. Prosecutors used phone subscriber records, Instagram messages, In-N-Out and airport surveillance, BMW GPS, and an American Express card tied to Astronaut Soundz to place co-defendants and associates in Los Angeles and San Diego. A central text in Exhibit 118 — “Don’t book no flights under no names involved with me” — was shown as a message from Banks to Jason Smith, the person who booked travel. The government argued the timing and context showed awareness and an effort to keep Banks’ name off the tickets. Defense counsel pressed that Banks was added as a manager on the card years earlier, that there was no signature tying him to the specific charges, and that cooperator interviews (Hester, Jones, Grant) were largely unrecorded. Cross-examination for Wilson highlighted Instagram DMs and Meta records placing him on a short Los Angeles trip and showing a shared post with the comment “He playing crazy,” not a written threat. Cross for Lindsey emphasized sparse phone contact with the other numbers on the government’s chart and the absence of his name on rental contracts. Later witnesses addressed extraction of Banks- and Smith-linked accounts and flight confirmations paid on the same card used for the group’s return travel.
